OpenCity

Finding  space in NYC to work, create and meet

About project

OpenCity's mission is to help users find low-cost spaces in NYC to meet a variety of needs
For a monthly membership fee, users can book spaces with particular amenities.

These can include painting studios with natural light, offices with WiFi and desks, or even event spaces for their next gathering

Highlights from the design process

USer research

Interviews from NYC residents revealed many key issues for users trying to find space in the city
These problems included inconvenient locations, expensive fees with long commitment terms, and lack of proper amenities

personas

After defining the user needs, user flows were created to clarify their journey within the app.

Brand identity phase

The logotype was kept simple, with the "O" symbolizing a broken chain link.

This references the app's mission of making previously inaccessible space open to the public
For color, deep blues are used for primary buttons and selections.

Backgrounds feature a lighter subtle gradient to add visual interest while still keeping the photos center stage
